It's a Small World...It's a VERY Different World!

I had so much fun getting to experience BOTH Disney World and Disneyland within the span of two months. I believed myself to be a die-hard Disney World fan, but had my world rocked when I got the chance to experience Disneyland in a different way.

There are some rides that are quintessential experiences to Disney, that no one was surprised when they appeared in both parks. I almost wrote this experience off, thinking "I don't want this song stuck in my head", but after seeing how different other rides were between the parks...I luckily hopped in line to be delighted!

So let's break down the differences:

Disneyland Version

Exterior

~ Classic and subdued with active elements in white and gold accents (this is a refurbishment from the older bright exterior)

~ Ride queue is outside allowing you a full view of the beautiful clock and exterior

Ride

~ The boat ride feels much closer to the displays, allowing you a much more detailed view of each display area

~ Each country had a nicely broken up display of its own that allowed you to experience them and their beautiful cultural celebrations.

~ Character cameos are sprinkled throughout the vignettes that create an amazing "I Spy" of Disney movie "Easter eggs"

Length

~ 15 minutes, that felt more like 30 minutes since there were numerous rooms that you entered with so much more to see. The addition of the postcards and farewell signs added a wonderful end to the ride.

Disney World Version

Exterior

~ Entrance is a small awning with a few colorful and bright tent tops

~ Ride queue goes inside (thank you for having a place on rainy Florida showers) to a queue system of lines and ramps in front of the static display of white and gold clock tower and building

Ride

~ Boat takes you through a distant view of each scene. Physically, you are much farther from the displays

~ Each room offers you a nice short ride through the highlights of the worlds. There seems to be a more generalized celebration of the countries in similar regions, rather than broken up into specific countries.

Length

~ You ride for approximately "this song is stuck in my head now" minutes. In reality, the ride is 10 minutes, 30 seconds.

It's a Small World

While this ride does not get the credit that it deserves, it really is wonderful. In a world that wants crazier and faster rides, this ride reminds us to slow down and just enjoy the magic the Disney offers!

This is an attraction that every age can enjoy, and even little's can stay in their carriers as you cuddle and rest. With no height requirements, everyone can add this ride to their list.
